Care and Attention to Detail
Each piece takes me 3 days to make. It is a very organic process over multiple days to make sure all of the materials are working together in conjunction with the pattern.
I have a small, minimalist studio. I try to focus on

The process
Day 1 I start with visualization and conceptualization of the bag. I will layout materials and hardware throughout the day under different lightings to ensure a good match. I then transfer the pattern pieces onto the materials, linings, and interfacings. Once everything is cut out and adhered, I will clean my work station and prep everything to start the next day. This allows me to clearly see the pattern pieces and hardware to see if any modifications are needed.
Day 2 I layout the hardware for inspection and assembly and prep and mark all of the pieces. I start to sew. I use a checklist to ensure a thorough process. No steps are skipped and no corners are cut. If the piece does not work, I will recut material to ensure quality.
Day 3 I finish sewing the bag and proceed to do a thorough inspection of the bag.
I will not batch sew or make more than 1 piece at a time to ensure thorough care and attention is given to each item.

It was never "just a bag". The bag has always been $400 whether the price tag reflects that or not. The materials used to make a handbag are extensive from the machines used, down to the glue that is manufactured to assemble the pieces. Quality hardware or cheap stock from China, all of it requires minerals to be mined and sourced and turned into the zipper, or magnetic snap that you see. The hours of care and planning that go into drafting and mock-ups of patterns, material, and assembly are extensive.
